This picture is of Rita and Brendon winding their Foss plane, made out of straws, a rubber band, Popsicle sticks, and a plastic propeller. My partner and I built the Foss plane by getting 1 jumbo straw, cutting it in half, and hole punching both in the top half. We then stuck both straws around a regular sized straw. Then, we stapled two Popsicle sticks to the bottom part of the halves. Finally, we attached the propeller and rubber band. Then my partner and I started our experiment. Our first experiment was to see how many winds it took to get the Foss plane from one chair to the other. Our second experiment was to see how many winds it takes the Foss plane to go half-way. Our third experiment was to test a variable on the Foss plane. We had to test how many winds it takes to get from chair-to-chair with different rubber bands. We learned that the thicker the rubber band, the less winds it takes the Foss plane to go from one chair to the other.
